  Japanese Professors Dispatch Program  
Background  
  The Japanese Professors Dispatch Program is to implement support to Japanese professors who is a co-investigator of Collaborative Research Program and jointly supervise AUN/SEED-Net students to visit Host Institution to discharge such joint research supervision responsibility. Japanese professors are also encouraged to visit other Member Institutions to stimulate and strengthen their research activities under Collaborative Research.
 
Objectives  
 
1. To carryout joint thesis research supervision of AUN/SEED-Net students between Host Institution and Japanese Supporting Universities under Collaborative Research Program scheme.
2. To ensure high quality of master’s and doctoral theses (which would lead to reputable international refereed journal publication) and to ensure the completion of the graduate degree within reasonable duration (two years for master’s degree and three years for doctoral degree).
3. To enhance the research collaboration between Host Institution and Japanese Supporting Universities
4. To give special lecture(s) or seminar(s) related to his/her recent research results to faculty members and graduate students of the Member Institutions and beyond.
 
Eligible Applicants  
  Principal Investigators and Advisors of the Host Institution who supervise thesis research of graduate students under the AUN/SEED-Net Project. Dispatched Japanese professors are encouraged to visit non-host Member Institutions as well. The non-host Member Institutions should communicate with Principle Investigators or Head of Host Program for possible arrangement of his/her visit to their Institution.  
Duration  
  The duration of a visit is normally not more than three weeks.
 
Target Number  
  Four (4) per host field . It should be noted that Japanese professors who participate Field–wise Seminars (not more than 6 per host field) will not be counted in this category, and that they might also contribute to support joint thesis research supervision during their leg of trip if necessary.
 
Requirement  
  Each Japanese professor should be listed as a co-investigator under Collaborative Research Program. The applicant must communicate with the concerned Japanese professor to identify tentative period of visit. When Japanese professor visits to Host and Member Institutions, he/she are encouraged to give special lecture(s) arranged by the Institution and/or seminar(s) of his/her recent research results to faculty members and graduate students of the Member Institutions.  
Application  
 

The proposal for dispatching Japanese professors to Host Institution must be endorsed by Head of Department in the Host Institution in consultation with Coordinator of Japanese Field Coordinating University and each proposal needs to include (1) the name of the Japanese professor, (2) expected period of visit, (3) the title of the research theme and a list of research topics of AUN/SEED-Net students that the Japanese professor is involved in joint research supervision, (4) the names of advisor and other committee members of the concerned students. The entire proposals of Japanese Professors Dispatch Program should be submitted with a cover letter signed by the Dean of Host Institution. The AUN/SEED-Net Project will finalize the visit not only to Host Institution but also possible visit(s) to other Member Institutions in consultation with the Japanese professor and the Coordinator of Field Coordinating University. Proposals should be submitted to the AUN/SEED-Net Project before the deadline.
