Field-wise
Seminar |
|
|
Background |
|
| |
Field-wise Seminar provides an opportunity
for faculty members of nine engineering fields
in Member Institutions and Japanese Supporting Universities to get
together at one place to review and evaluate the progress of research
under the Collaborative Research
Program , which is carried out by graduate students of AUN/SEED-Net
and graduate students of Member Institutions. It provides an opportunity
for them to discuss further extension of such research results for
future research collaboration, through which such research sub-areas
are promoted among Member Institutions and Japanese Supporting Universities.
With an assistance and involvement of Japanese Supporting Universities,
Field-wise Seminars will be held twice a year, preferably
once at Host Institution (so that thesis research results by AUN/SEED-Net
students can be presented) and once at non-host Member Institution
(preferably major sending institution for graduate degree programs
of AUN/SEED-Net). It is encouraged to spread the venue of the seminar
over the region during the five-year Project period.
|
|
|
Objectives |
|
| |
| 1. |
To review, discuss and design annual implementation
plan for various input of AUN/SEED-Net Project, especially recruitment
of graduate students. |
| 2. |
To present research results within the research
themes under the Collaborative Research Program, which are carried
out by AUN/SEED-Net students and graduate students of Member
Institutions, and recent research trend and discussions. |
| 3. |
To enhance exchange of experiences and research
work / findings related to Research Themes under Collaborative
Research among the Member Institutions. |
| 4. |
To strengthen the collaborative relationship
among the Member Institutions and Japanese Supporting Universities. |
|
|
|
Requirements |
|
| |
| 1. |
The participants including lecturers of the
seminars are, in principle, faculty members of Member Institutions
and Japanese Supporting Universities. |
| 2. |
The involvement of Japanese Professors from
Field Coordinating University and/or Japanese Supporting Universities
in designing and participating in the seminar is required. |
|
|
|
Features
of the Program |
|
| |
It is expected that the seminar should
be organized so as to achieve the following two main activities.
|
|
| |
| 1. |
Discussions on annual implementation plan
The following issues should be discussed during the seminar
and conclusions of discussion along with action plan should
be reported as outputs of the seminar. |
| |
- Recruitment planning of the candidates
for the Graduate Degree Program (review, problem finding
and solving, recruitment activities, promotional activities
etc.)
- Collaborative Research Topics (selection,
progress review, involvement of personnel etc.)
- Field-wise Seminar (next venue, theme(s)
etc.)
|
| 2. |
Exchange of research experiences and
outputs
It is required that the topic(s) of the academic presentation
and discussions should be related to the topic(s) of the Collaborative
Research Program of the Host Field. The Host Institution
can invite outstanding researchers from the Member Institutions,
including faculty members who are conducting or have completed
research project of the hosting field supported by AUN/SEED-Net
Project.
