Short-term Training/Research Program in ASEAN |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Background |
|
| |
AUN/SEED-Net Graduate programs have been awarding scholarships to faculty-to-be and faculty
staff from Member Institutions to study in ASEAN and Japan with an ultimate objective to upgrade Member Institutions’ capacity.
Nevertheless, due to the limited manpower of teaching staff at some Member Institutions, especially non-host, it is difficult for
them to take long-term leave and join Graduate Programs to pursue a higher degree. Short-Term Training/ Research Program in ASEAN is
then launched as an activity whereby teaching staff can acquire better teaching and research skills as well as updated knowledge
through training and research doing at Host Institutions for a short period. The capacity of the Member Institution to which the
staff belongs could be enhanced gradually. Higher priority will be given to AUN/SEED-Net graduates who are now faculty staff as well
as teaching staff of the Member Institutions in CLMV countries that are still in great need of higher education development compared
to other countries in ASEAN region.
The participants will be supported by the program and concerned Member Institution(s) to visit Host Institution
for a period of not more than 30 days to receive training and/or do research in relation to on-going/ future Collaborative Research
(CR) umbrellas (themes). Through the implementation of the program, the participants can continuously improve their knowledge and
research capacity as well as to strengthen their relationship, in case of the graduates, with Host Institutions. In the end, the
closer collaboration among Member Institutions (host and non-host) is expected and it could lead to more common research themes that
respond better to the needs of the region. |
