Enhancement of Member Institutions’ academic and research capacity has been one of the
AUN/SEED-Net’s missions since the first official launch of full scale activities in 2003. During the first phase (2003-2008), the
capacity of AUN/SEED-Net’s Member Institutions had been enhanced mainly through the Graduate Degrees Programs with supplementary
supporting programs such as Short-term Visit Programs within ASEAN and to Japan.
According to the main purpose to facilitate the research collaboration amongst Member Institutions as well as
between Member Institutions and Japanese Supporting Universities, all visiting programs in the first phase focused mainly on the
Host Institutions. However, non-hosting Member Institutions were also encouraged to be involved in Collaborative Research Program
and were able to conduct a short visit to Host Institutions to discuss research collaboration.
In the 2nd phase of the AUN/SEED-Net Project, support for non-hosting Member Institutions especially in CLMV
countries is expanded. Apart from the involvement in Graduate Degrees Programs and Collaborative Research Program as the Sending
Institutions, the 6 Member Institutions in CLMV countries will also be able to invite faculty staff of Hosting Institutions and
Japanese Supporting Universities to visit their institutions for the purpose of strengthening / developing their courses and/or
graduate programs, under the newly launched Faculty Staff Dispatch Program (to CLMV). |
