The Steering Committee
is composed of the AUN Executive Director, the AUN/SEED-Net Executive Director, a representative of ASEAN Secretariat, a representative of the Government of Japan, a representative of JICA, and a representative of Japanese Supporting University Consortium, as ex-officio members and one representative of the Member Institutions from each of the ASEAN countries. A representative of the ASEAN Foundation will be an ex-officio member of the Steering Committee during the period the AUN/SEED-Net receives contribution form the Japan-ASEAN Solidarity Fund.
Functions of the AUN/SEED-Net Steering Committee include:
1) To formulate policies for the operation of the network.
2) To review and approve strategic five year plan and annual activity plan prepared by the AUN/SEED-Net Secretariat.
3) To appoint the Executive Director of the AUN/SEED-Net Secretariat.
4) To conduct periodic review and evaluation of on-going projects and activities based on the recommendations and assessment of the Executive Director.
5) To review and approve ideas, innovations or mechanisms for sourcing and generating funds for the realization of a self-reliant and self-sustaining AUN/SEED-Net.
6) To perform such other functions that may be necessary to carry out the objectives of the AUN/SEED-Net.
The Steering Committee meets once a year. Each country representative will be accompanied by one observer from other Member Institutions of that country.
All decisions of the Steering Committee will be made by the consensus of the members and official representatives present in the Meeting.
Member Institutions shall implement to the best of their ability the programs and activities of the AUN/SEED-Net for which prior agreement has been reached.
The Secretariat is located at Faculty of Engineering
at Chulalongkorn University, headed by the Executive Director. JICA
will dispatch the supporting and advisory team consisting of long-term
experts (Chief Advisor, Academic Advisor, and Coordinators) to the
Secretariat.
The Secretariat has the following functions:
1) To plan and organize programs, projects and activities of the AUN/SEED-Net.
2) To coordinate, monitor and evaluate programs and activities of the AUN/SEED-Net.
3) To propose and develop ideas, innovations or mechanisms for finding and generating
funds for the realization of a self-reliant and self-sustaining AUN/SEED-Net.
4) To assess and review periodically the accomplishments of the AUN/SEED-Net.
5) To prepare and submit an Annual Report of the AUN/SEED-Net to the Steering Committee.
6) To perform such other functions which may be assigned by the Steering Committee from time to time.
