After four years since the inauguration of the AUN/SEED-Net on April 23, 2001, the Network, with the generous support of the Government of Japan through Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), has produced some 40 Master's graduates with over 170 students currently studying in 10 institutions for the Master's degrees and 46 students for the Doctoral degrees.

The AUN/SEED-Net Newsletter hopes to strengthen the ties between alumni and the Network, to provide information on AUN/SEED-Net activities, and to serve as a vehicle by which opinions/comments/suggestions can be shared or voiced.

The support and contribution of all stakeholders are always sincerely appreciated. The participation of all as partners is vital to the success of the Project, and we look forward to any constructive suggestions you may contribute to this end.

Professor Dr. Panitan Lukkunaprasit
Executive Director

I am very pleased to inform you that the AUN/SEED-Net Project starts to deliver "Newsletter" to disseminate the recent activities.

Thanks to continuous and tremendous endeavors of the persons concerned during last 4 years in member institutions, Japanese supporting universities, JICA HQ, as well as in the Project office, the Project has begun to run smoothly.

Since the Project is multilateral-type involving 10 ASEAN countries and 19 member institutions, some programs are very new as the JICA programs. Therefore, the Project outcomes should be noticed and will hopefully be reflected in the future JICA human resources development projects.

Since the Project is still far from complete, I would like to ask all of you to cooperate and support continuously the Project.

Professor Dr. Kazuo TSUTSUMI
Chief Advisor
